What is Straight Bill of Lading?

A Straight Bill of Lading is a legal document that serves as evidence of a contract between a shipper and a carrier. It is a document that contains details about the cargo being shipped, such as the type of goods, quantity, weight, and destination. The Straight Bill of Lading is called “straight” because it is a non-negotiable document and can only be transferred to the consignee named on the document. This means that the carrier is obligated to deliver the cargo only to the specified consignee and not to anyone else.
