In the shipping context, a Fifth Freedom Flight is a type of commercial aviation service that allows an airline to carry passengers or cargo between two foreign countries as part of a flight that originates or ends in the airline’s home country. For example, an airline based in the United States might operate a flight from New York to London, but also sell tickets for passengers traveling from London to Paris on the same flight.
