What is Fifth Freedom Flight?

In the shipping context, a Fifth Freedom Flight is a type of commercial aviation service that allows an airline to carry passengers or cargo between two foreign countries as part of a flight that originates or ends in the airline’s home country. For example, an airline based in the United States might operate a flight from New York to London, but also sell tickets for passengers traveling from London to Paris on the same flight. This allows the airline to generate additional revenue by offering service between two foreign countries that it may not be able to serve directly.
