How is air freight cost calculated?
To calculate the cost of air shipment, volumetric or actual weight are used. The choice between the two is made depending on which one has more value.
The volumetric weight is calculated by multiplying the length, weight, and height (in cubic meters) and air cubic conversion factor, 167. The volume will be calculated in cubic meter units, while the final weight will be in kilograms.
If the volumetric weight is more than the actual weight, then it will be the basis of the final charges by the air freight forwarder; and vice versa.
