What is Fill rate & how is it Calculated?

Fill rate refers to the percentage of customer orders that are shipped complete and on time. A high fill rate indicates that the company is able to efficiently manage its inventory and supply chain, while a low fill rate may indicate that there are issues with production, transportation, or inventory management.

To calculate fill rate, you would take the number of complete and on-time orders and divide it by the total number of orders received during a specific time period. For example, if a company received 1,000 orders in a week and was able to ship 950 of those orders complete and on time, the fill rate would be calculated as follows:

Fill Rate = (950 / 1,000) x 100% = 95%

So, the fill rate in this example would be 95%. This means that the company was able to ship 95% of its customer orders complete and on time during that week. It’s important to note that the fill rate can be calculated for different time periods, such as daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly, depending on the needs of the company.
