What is the Disbursement Service Fee and how is it calculated?

A Disbursement Service Fee is a charge levied by a freight forwarder or logistics provider for facilitating the payment of various expenses on behalf of the shipper or consignee during the shipping process. These expenses may include freight charges, port fees, customs duties, taxes, and other disbursements necessary for the transportation and clearance of cargo.

The disbursement service fee compensates the freight forwarder for the administrative tasks and financial arrangements involved in making these payments on behalf of their clients. The fee can be a fixed amount or calculated as a percentage of the total disbursements made by the freight forwarder on behalf of the shipper or consignee.
