What is a Delivery Receipt?

A Delivery Receipt, also known as a proof of delivery (POD), is a document that acknowledges the successful delivery of goods from the carrier to the consignee or recipient. The delivery receipt includes essential details such as the date and time of delivery, the delivery location or address, the names and signatures of the parties involved (carrier and consignee), and any notations about the condition of the delivered goods. It serves as evidence that the shipment has reached its intended destination and has been received by the consignee in good order. The consignee may keep a copy of the delivery receipt for record-keeping and as verification that the goods have been delivered according to the terms of the transportation contract.
