What is Consular Invoice?

A consular invoice is a document that is required by the customs authorities of some countries for certain types of goods being shipped. It is a type of commercial invoice that is certified by a consular official of the importing country.

The purpose of a consular invoice is to provide the importing country with detailed information about the goods being shipped, including their value, quantity, and other relevant details. It is used by customs officials to determine the appropriate duties and taxes to be levied on the goods, and to ensure that they comply with any import regulations or restrictions.

Consular invoices are typically required for certain types of goods, such as food products, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural commodities. The specific requirements for consular invoices can vary depending on the importing country and the type of goods being shipped.

To obtain a consular invoice, the exporter typically needs to provide a commercial invoice and other relevant documentation to the consular office of the importing country. The consular official will then review and certify the documents before returning them to the exporter.
