What does CIM refer to?

CIM stands for “Convention Internationale concernant le Transport des Marchandises par Chemin de Fer” (International Convention concerning the Carriage of Goods by Rail). It is an international convention established to govern the transportation of goods by rail across borders. The CIM convention provides standardized rules and regulations for rail transport, including provisions related to the issuance of rail transport documents (CIM consignment note) and the liability of carriers in case of loss, damage, or delay to the goods during transit. The CIM consignment note serves as a contract of carriage and a receipt for the goods transported by rail.
