What is General Order (GO)?

General Order (GO) is a cargo handling procedure for shipments arriving at a port without a designated shipper or intended recipient. The cargo is typically stored in a bonded warehouse and is held until an importer claims the cargo and pays all applicable duties, taxes, and storage fees.

GO shipments are often used in situations where the shipper or recipient is unknown, such as when a shipment is abandoned, when a shipper cannot be located, or when the recipient refuses to accept the shipment.
