What is a Duty-Free Zone (DFZ)?

A Duty-Free Zone (DFZ) is a designated area where goods may be imported, stored, manufactured, or processed without payment of duties or taxes. They are usually located at international borders or ports and are frequently used for international trade.  

 

The purpose of DFZs is to encourage economic development and increase the competitiveness of businesses located within the zone.
