What is a Category Scheme?

In shipping, a Category Scheme refers to a system of organizing products or items into categories or groups based on specific attributes or characteristics. A Category Scheme is typically used to help manage and classify products, and to make it easier for companies to identify and track inventory, as well as to analyze sales and purchasing data.

A Category Scheme may include several levels of categorization, with each level representing a different grouping of products based on shared attributes or characteristics. For example, a Category Scheme for shipping supplies might start with a top-level category of “Packaging Materials,” with lower-level categories such as “Boxes,” “Bags,” “Pallets,” and “Tapes.”
