What are Documents Against Acceptance (D/A)?

Documents Against Acceptance (D/A) is a payment term in which the shipping documents are released to the buyer upon acceptance of a draft, which is a written order to pay a specified amount of money. The buyer must accept the draft and pay the agreed-upon amount within a specified timeframe, typically 30, 60, or 90 days. D/A is commonly used in international trade transactions where the buyer and seller are not located in the same country and may not have an established business relationship or trust.
