What is Berth or Liner Terms?

In shipping, “berth liner terms” refers to the conditions under which cargo is transported by a berth liner service. These terms typically include the rates charged for the transport of cargo, the schedules and ports of call for the liner service, and the terms and conditions governing the carriage of goods.

The rates charged by a berth liner service will depend on factors such as the type and quantity of cargo being transported, the distance between ports, and the level of demand for shipping services. These rates are typically published in a tariff, which sets out the charges for various types of cargo and services.

The schedule and ports of call for a berth liner service are also important factors to consider when shipping goods. The schedule will determine when cargo can be shipped and when it will arrive at its destination, while the ports of call will determine the points at which cargo can be loaded and unloaded.
