What is Roll On/ Roll Off (RO/RO)?

Roll On/Roll Off (RO/RO) is a method of shipping cargo by rolling it on and off the vessel on its own wheels or on pallets that are loaded and unloaded by forklifts or gantry cranes.  

This method of cargo shipping is often used for large items such as automobiles, trucks, buses, construction equipment, and boats.
