What is Importer of Record (IOR)?

Importer of Record (IOR) is a designation given to an individual or organization that is responsible for ensuring that all imported goods are properly documented and comply with the relevant customs regulations and laws of the country they are entering.  

 

The IOR is typically the importer of the goods but may also be an agent or broker employed by the importer. The IOR is responsible for filing all necessary paperwork for the importation, including any applicable taxes and duties.
