Charge Prepaid

Tags: Glossary

A financial arrangement whereby shippers pay shipping costs in advance.

The Charge Prepaid Payment Method

Charge Prepaid refers to the arrangement in which the shipper or sender of goods pays the shipping costs in advance. This means that the sender is responsible for covering all transportation expenses associated with the shipment, from the point of origin to the destination, before the goods are dispatched. Charge prepaid is one of the two primary payment methods in shipping, with the other being “Charge Collect.”

With charge prepaid, the shipper assumes the risk and liability for the goods during transit until they reach the consignee or the designated recipient. Insurance coverage is often recommended to mitigate these risks.
