What is Ton-Displacement?
Ton-displacement (DT) is a measurement used to describe the weight of water that a ship displaces when it is fully loaded with cargo, fuel, and other supplies. It is calculated by subtracting the weight of the ship when it is empty (known as the “lightweight”) from the weight of the ship when it is fully loaded.
