What are Hours of Service (HOS)?

Hours of Service (HOS) refers to the regulations and guidelines governing the amount of time that commercial drivers can spend operating a vehicle in the shipping industry. These regulations are designed to ensure the safety of drivers and other motorists on the road by preventing driver fatigue and ensuring that drivers have adequate rest and recovery time.

HOS regulations may vary by country and region, but generally limit the amount of time that a driver can spend on duty or driving within a 24-hour period. Drivers are also required to take breaks and rest periods at regular intervals to ensure that they are well-rested and alert when operating a vehicle.
