What does Dry Run mean?

A Dry Run, also known as a test run or trial run, is a practice simulation of a transportation process or operation without actually moving any cargo or passengers. In the context of shipping, a dry run is conducted to ensure the smooth execution of logistics operations, especially for complex or critical shipments. During a dry run, all the necessary logistics processes, documentation, and coordination are tested to identify and address potential issues or challenges before the actual shipment takes place. It helps to verify that all parties involved, including carriers, freight forwarders, customs authorities, and consignees, are well-prepared and aligned for the successful movement of the cargo.

Conducting a dry run can minimize the risk of delays, errors, and costly disruptions during the actual shipping process.
