What is a Customs Entry?

A Customs Entry, also known as an import entry or customs declaration, is a formal document submitted to customs authorities by an importer or their customs broker to declare the details of imported goods. The customs entry provides essential information about the imported goods, such as their description, value, origin, quantity, and classification according to the Harmonized System (HS) code. It is a critical step in the customs clearance process, allowing customs authorities to assess the proper duties, taxes, and fees applicable to the imported goods.

The customs entry is filed electronically or on paper and serves as an official declaration by the importer or their representative, certifying the accuracy of the information provided.
