What is a Consolidated Container?

A Consolidated Container, also known as a Groupage Container or LCL (Less than Container Load) shipment, is a container in which multiple small shipments from different shippers are combined or consolidated into a single container for transportation. This method is often used when individual shippers do not have enough cargo to fill an entire container. By consolidating multiple smaller shipments into one container, shippers can share the cost of transportation, making it a cost-effective solution for shipping smaller quantities of goods. At the destination, the container is deconsolidated, and the individual shipments are distributed to their respective consignees.
