What is Business Message Standard (BMS)?

Business Message Standard (BMS) is a standardized messaging system used in the shipping industry to exchange information between different parties involved in shipping, such as shippers, carriers, and freight forwarders. BMS is used to exchange data related to various aspects of shipping, such as container booking, vessel schedules, cargo release, and customs clearance. 

 

BMS is a set of electronic messages that conform to a standard format and syntax, allowing different computer systems to communicate with each other. The messages are typically transmitted using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) or other electronic messaging protocols.
