Bull Rings

Tags: Glossary

Fixed or retractable devices on the deck of a ship to secure cargo using ropes or chains.

What is the purpose of Bull Rings?

Bull rings are securing devices or lashing points found on the deck or inside a vessel’s cargo hold. They are used to secure and hold cargo in place during transit. Bull rings are typically made of strong metal and are welded or bolted to the ship’s structure to provide a reliable attachment point for cargo securing equipment, such as ropes, chains, or lashings. Properly securing cargo using bull rings ensures safe transportation and prevents shifting or movement of cargo during rough sea conditions.
