Tags: Glossary

An international system for classifying goods for customs purposes.

What is a Brussels Tariff Nomenclature Number (BTN)?

The Brussels Tariff Nomenclature Number (BTN) is a system of codes used to classify goods for import and export purposes. It is based on the international Harmonized System (HS) of codes and is used primarily in the European Union (EU) for customs and trade purposes.

The BTN code is a 10-digit number that is used to identify the goods being imported or exported. It provides a standardized classification system that is recognized internationally, making it easier for companies to do business across borders.

The BTN code is used to determine the customs duty rates that are applied to imported goods. The code provides information about the product’s country of origin, value, and composition, which is used to determine the appropriate duty rate.
