What does Cancel After Date/Cancel Date mean?

Cancel After Date (CAD) or Cancel Date is a term used in shipping that refers to the date after which a booking or reservation for a shipment will be automatically cancelled if certain conditions are not met. This condition may vary based on the specific agreement between the parties involved.

For example, if a shipping company books a cargo shipment on a vessel for a customer, the booking confirmation may include a Cancel After Date or Cancel Date. This means that if the customer fails to provide the required documentation, such as a Bill of Lading or customs clearance documents, before the Cancel After Date, the booking will be cancelled automatically
