Professionals determining distribution of losses in marine incidents.

Who are Average Adjusters?

Average adjusters are professionals in the insurance and maritime industries who assess and determine the extent of damage, losses, or expenses incurred during a marine incident or accident. Their role is to investigate and calculate the average (i.e., the proportional distribution of losses) among the parties involved, such as the ship owner, cargo owner, and insurer.

Average adjusters consider various factors, including the nature of the incident, the value of the cargo, the extent of damage, and the applicable laws and international conventions, to arrive at a fair and equitable distribution of costs and liabilities.
