What is an accessorial charges?

The accessorial fee is the amount charged by the freight forwarders for the services offered beyond the standard ones. These charges are usually mentioned separately on the freight invoices.

The consignee of the cargo is usually the one who pays these charges. The accessorial charges are more common in Less than Truckload (LTL), Full Truckload (FTL), parcel delivery, and the shipments using intermodal.
