What is a Weight Break?

A weight break in logistics is a point at which an increase in shipment weight can cause a significant increase in shipping costs. This refers to the weight of a shipment when it is sent from a vendor to a customer.

Depending on the type of shipment, carriers may base the cost of shipping on the weight of the shipment, and may offer discounts for shipments below a certain weight. A weight break is the weight at which the cost of shipping may increase significantly.
