What is a Currency Charge (CCH)?

The Currency Charge (CCH) is a fee imposed by a shipping line or carrier to account for the currency conversion costs associated with handling freight payments in different currencies. When shippers or consignees make payments for shipping services in currencies other than the carrier’s preferred currency, the carrier may incur additional costs for converting those foreign currency payments into its preferred currency. The Currency Charge helps the carrier recover the expenses incurred during the currency conversion process.
