What is a Bill of Materials?

In shipping, a Bill of Materials (BOM) is a document that lists all the materials, parts, components, and sub-assemblies required to manufacture or produce a finished product. The BOM is an important tool for planning and managing the production process, as it provides a comprehensive overview of the materials and resources needed to complete a particular project.

The BOM typically includes information such as the part or material name, part number, quantity required, unit of measure, and cost. It may also include information on suppliers, lead times, and other details relevant to the procurement and management of the materials.
