What is a boxcar?

A boxcar is a versatile and enclosed freight car that usually is 40-50 feet long. They are a common railroad method to transfer cargo, mail, and other kinds of goods to their final destination.

The side doors on the boxcar vary in size and operation, depending on the type of cargo being transported on them. Some of them also have adjustable bulkheads that can help in loading heavier cargo.
