What is considered a Concealed Loss or Damage?

In shipping, concealed loss or damage refers to damage or loss of goods that is not immediately apparent or visible at the time of delivery or unloading but becomes apparent only after the goods have been inspected or unpacked.

Concealed loss or damage can occur due to a variety of factors, such as poor packaging, mishandling, or environmental conditions during transport. If not detected and reported promptly, concealed loss or damage can result in disputes between the parties involved in the shipment, including the shipper, carrier, and consignee.

To minimize the risk of concealed loss or damage, shippers and carriers are advised to take appropriate measures to protect and secure the goods during transport, such as using suitable packaging materials and securing the cargo properly. They should also inspect the goods carefully upon delivery and note any visible damage or signs of tampering and report any concealed loss or damage promptly to the relevant parties.
