What is On-Dock Rail?
On-dock rail is a term used to describe the movement of cargo containers directly between a seaport and a nearby rail yard without the need for intermediate truck transport. On-dock rail can reduce transportation costs and congestion on local highways, as well as improve the efficiency of cargo movements. On-dock rail facilities are often located at or near major seaports and are designed to handle the loading and unloading of containers onto rail cars.
