Pre-Shipment Inspection for Benin

Benin requires that pre-shipment inspection – PSI (Inention D’Imortation – IDI) is carried out for all imports in to Benin. For the purpose of customs clearance this is undertaken at the port of load country.

Pre-shipment Inspections are managed by BIVAC (Bureau Inspection Valuation Assessment Control) International.

Additional Information about ECTN, Certificate must be presented:

  • Per BL for containers (Maximum 10 Teus per BESC i.e. 10 x 20′ container or 5 x 40′ container)
  • Per vehicle by RORO (wheeled)
  • Per BL for the break bulk. ( Max 300 tonnes per BESC)
  • ECTN must be presented to the BSC within 5 days after the departure and 5 days before the vessel arrives to the port.
  • Shipping or arrival without ECTN, or false information in ECTN results a fine of 2500 USD per Bill of lading, plus the regulations charge determined by Benin Customs.
