Belly Cargo

Cargo that is transported in the belly of a passenger aircraft, located beneath the passenger cabin.

What is Belly Cargo?

Belly cargo in shipping refers to cargo that is carried in the lower deck of a passenger aircraft, also known as the belly or hold of the aircraft. This cargo is typically loaded and unloaded through the aircraft’s cargo doors, which are located on the sides or rear of the aircraft.

Belly cargo can include a wide range of goods, such as mail, parcels, luggage, and freight. It is often transported alongside passenger baggage and is subject to the same safety and security regulations as passenger luggage.

The use of belly cargo allows airlines to generate additional revenue from the unused space in the lower deck of passenger aircraft. It can also provide shippers with a cost-effective and reliable transportation option, particularly for smaller shipments or urgent deliveries.
