What are Contact Documents?

“Contact documents” are documents that are used to communicate information about a shipment between the parties involved in the shipping process. These parties may include the shipper, consignee, carrier, freight forwarder, customs officials, and other entities involved in the movement of goods. 

 

Examples of contact documents may include bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices, shipping labels, and other documents that provide information about the contents of a shipment, the parties involved, and the terms of the shipment. These documents are used to facilitate communication and coordination between the parties involved, and to ensure that the shipment is handled properly and efficiently throughout the shipping process.
